How kids abaya sizing works

The trade genuinely splits on this. Some suppliers size children by age band, others by height in centimetres, and the two do not line up.

Height is the more reliable of the two, because an eight-year-old can be a head taller than another eight-year-old. If you are selling online, publish the height the garment is cut for and you will take fewer returns.

We will grade to age bands, to height, or to a chart you already use. What matters is that your product page and the garment agree with each other.

Safety rules on children’s clothing

Children’s garments carry rules that adult ones do not, and they are the responsibility of whoever puts the garment on the market in that country.

The best known is EN 14682, the European standard covering cords and drawstrings on children’s clothing. Other markets have their own equivalents.

Tell us your market before we design

Belts, ties, hoods and any hanging cord are where these rules bite. Tell us which country the stock is going to and we will design to that standard rather than finding out at customs.

If you need test reports or a declaration for your market, say so at quoting. Arranging it afterwards is slow and expensive.

Do you size kids abayas by age or by height?

Either, and we will follow the convention your market uses. Height is more reliable, because children of the same age vary a great deal.

Do you offer mother-and-daughter matching sets?

Yes, made to order. Same cloth and same finish in an adult size and a girls’ size, cut together so the colours match.

The same as everything else: 20 pieces across the whole order with a AED 2,000 minimum value. There is no separate kids minimum.

Can I order kids and adult sizes in the same shipment?

Yes, and most buyers do. Everything counts toward one order and ships together.

Is there a safety standard for cords and drawstrings on children’s clothing?

What fabric do you use for kids abayas?

It depends on the market and the season. Soft, breathable cloth wears best on children. Tell us the climate and we will put two or three options in front of you.

How do kids sizes compare to adult sizes?

They are a separate run, not a scaled-down version of the adult chart. A child’s proportions are different, so the pattern is different.

Do girls’ abayas come with a matching hijab?

They can. Say so at quoting and we will cut the scarf from the same lot so the colours actually match.

Do you sell prayer sets for girls?

Yes, as part of the prayer dress range rather than here. The two are usually bought together.

When is the best time to order kids abayas?

There are two peaks: the run-up to Eid, and back to school in your market. Both need ordering about two months ahead of the shelf date.

Can I put my own label on kids abayas?

Yes, on the same terms as the rest of the catalogue. Care labelling rules for children are stricter in some markets, so tell us where you are selling.

Can I get a sample before ordering kids sizes in bulk?

Yes, on the same terms as anything else: no piece minimum, only a AED 2,000 order value.

Do you supply schools directly?

We supply whoever is buying, including schools and uniform buyers. Tell us the quantity and the spec and we will quote it.
