What to stock for Umrah and Hajj

Fabric first

Light nida, crepe and cotton all work. Crepe recovers from folding better than most, which matters when the garment lives in a suitcase.

Avoid heavy satin and anything lined. Warmth is the enemy here, and shine is not what the occasion calls for.

On religious practice

We make garments; we do not give religious rulings. Guides commonly advise plain, modest, unscented clothing, and note that perfume is avoided in the state of ihram, which is why many buyers ask for unscented packing.

When to order

Both seasons have hard dates and both move each year against the Gregorian calendar, so the plan has to be rebuilt annually.

Hajj

One short window each year in Dhul-Hijjah. Order roughly four months ahead to leave room for production, freight and clearance, and remember that everybody else is ordering at the same time.

Umrah

Umrah runs year-round with two clear peaks: Ramadan, and the winter school-holiday period. It is the steadier of the two seasons and the easier one to plan stock around.

Group orders

If you are supplying a tour, send the group size and the departure date. We can pack per pilgrim, label per person and ship to one address, which saves the operator a great deal of sorting.

Light nida, crepe or cotton. Crepe recovers best from being folded in a suitcase; cotton breathes best; light nida sits between the two.

What colour should Umrah and Hajj abayas be?

Black is the most common choice by a wide margin, with white also widely worn. Both sell; we would weight a group order toward black unless the operator says otherwise.
