When to Order Abayas for Ramadan 2027: A Month-by-Month Wholesale Calendar

Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year against the Gregorian calendar, so last year's buying plan is already wrong. This one works backwards from the expected start of Ramadan 2027 to the day your order has to be placed. The production windows come from our lead times page and are counted in working days from a cleared deposit.

When should I place a wholesale abaya order for Ramadan 2027?

Place the final order and clear the deposit 10 to 12 weeks before Ramadan begins. Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around 8 February 2027, so that window runs from 16 to 30 November 2026 for a style already in the catalogue. A new design needs sampling first, so start it in October 2026.

The 10 to 12 weeks covers production, freight and your own time to unpack and list, with room for one thing to go wrong. It does not cover sampling, label artwork or the time you spend deciding. Those all come before the order, and in our experience they are where Ramadan orders actually slip.

Use the early end of the window if you can. Every shop that sells for Ramadan is chasing the same machines, the same fabric and the same couriers in the same few weeks.

When do Ramadan and Eid fall in 2027?

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027. Eid al-Fitr is expected around 9 or 10 March 2027, and Eid al-Adha around mid-May 2027. All three depend on the sighting of the new moon, so the confirmed day can shift and can differ from one country to the next.

Treat these as planning dates, not fixed ones. Check the confirmed date for your market in January, and keep a few days of slack at the front of your plan rather than at the back. Do not copy this calendar for 2028 either. Ramadan will start about eleven days earlier again, and every step moves with it.

How long does each step of a Ramadan order take?

A style made to order takes 12 to 18 working days from a cleared deposit. Private label takes 19 to 28, and a fully custom design 22 to 30, including a sampling round. Courier transit adds 5 to 10 days after dispatch, plus clearance. Then you need time to check, photograph and list the stock.

The production clock starts when your 50–60% deposit clears and your spec sheet is signed, not when you first ask for a price. Working days run Monday to Friday and production stops on UAE public holidays, so 18 working days is nearer four calendar weeks than three.

For private label, the label usually sets the start date. Woven labels take around two to three weeks from artwork approval, and a garment cannot be finished without one. If you are working to Ramadan, send the label artwork first and settle the colour split afterwards.

What does a month-by-month Ramadan 2027 calendar look like?

Decide your range in September, sample in October, and confirm new designs and private label in early November. Repeat styles can wait until 16 to 30 November, but no later. Production runs through December, stock ships around the turn of the year, and it should be listed by late January, before Ramadan starts around 8 February.

If you sell online, the listing date is your real shelf date. A customer cannot buy a style that is still in a carton, and photos, product copy and size charts for a new range always take longer than planned.

How early should I sample new designs for Ramadan?

Start sampling a new design three to four months before Ramadan, which for 2027 means October 2026. That leaves time for one round of changes, a decision and a bulk order that still meets the November cut-off. A sample that lands in mid-November still needing changes has probably missed the season.

There are two kinds of sample. To test styles already in the catalogue, place a sample order. It has no piece minimum, only a minimum value of AED 2,000, and ready stock ships in 3 to 5 days. The pieces are real stock you keep and sell, which is why a sample order is not credited against a later one.

For a new design, the pattern is drafted and a sample is sewn and couriered to you. One round of changes is included in the quote. If a second round is needed, it is priced before it starts, and it costs you time as well as money, which is the thing a Ramadan order has least of.

Test the sample the week it arrives. Wash one piece the way your customer will, tug hard at any embroidery or beading, and measure it against the sheet in the box. Your own decision time is always longer than you plan for, so give yourself a date to say yes or no.

What goes wrong with Ramadan orders?

The sewing is rarely what makes a Ramadan order late. Orders slip because sampling starts too late, label artwork arrives after the order, the spec changes once cutting is booked, or the parcel travels in the weeks when couriers are busiest. A reorder placed once Ramadan begins can land around Eid, when most of the selling is done.

Sampling that starts in November

This is the easiest way to lose the season. By the time the sample is approved, the made-to-order cut-off has passed. The design then either waits a year or gets swapped for a catalogue style at the last minute. Start new designs in October, or hold them back for Eid al-Adha.

Changes after the slot is booked

Changing a colour or a measurement after cutting has been scheduled puts an order at the back of the queue, and in November that queue is long. Approve the spec sheet once. If your colour is not on the current dye run, you are told at quote stage with an honest date, so ask about colours early.

Couriers in the busy weeks

Factories, fabric mills and couriers are all at their busiest in the run-up to Ramadan. For 2027 the dispatch window also crosses Christmas and New Year, which are public holidays in many of the countries abayas ship to. Plan against the 10-day end of the courier range, and ask your customs broker how clearance runs over the holidays before you count on it.

Reorders that land after Eid

A reorder placed on the first day of Ramadan, around 8 February, finishes production in late February or early March. Add 5 to 10 days by courier and it arrives close to Eid al-Fitr, around 9 or 10 March. Sales slow after Eid, so that stock sits. Buy your depth in the first order. If you want a second delivery before Eid, agree it when you place the first order, not in February.

Faults found too late

Faults have to be reported within 7 days of delivery. Pieces outside the stated tolerance are replaced on the next production run, and in this season that can mean after Eid. What sells in the Ramadan and Eid season?

Occasion pieces carry the season. Farasha and kaftan cuts are bought for Ramadan and Eid, and girls' abayas and mother-and-daughter sets sell hardest in the six weeks before Eid. Umrah has one of its two yearly peaks in Ramadan. Everyday abayas keep selling all year, and that is where most of your depth should sit.

• Farasha. Arabic for butterfly: the wide cape-sleeve abaya that Gulf buyers stock for Ramadan and Eid. It is made to order, so it runs on the calendar above. See farasha abayas.
• Kaftan cuts. Often sold next to farasha, but a different garment. An abaya is worn over clothes; a kaftan is the outfit itself. Title your listings correctly, because Gulf customers notice.
• Kids and mother-and-daughter sets. Girls' abayas cut on their own graded size run and matched to an adult style. A small add-on to an order you are already placing.
• Prayer dresses. One-piece and two-piece. A line with a low return rate and fast reorders, and girls' prayer sets are usually bought alongside kids' abayas.
• Umrah travel sets. Washable and wrinkle-resistant. Order two to three months before each peak.

Buy the occasion pieces shallow. A range that only sells in Ramadan leaves you carrying stock for eleven months. Should Ramadan stock go by courier or by sea?

Courier or air suits most Ramadan orders below about 300 pieces, and courier takes 5 to 10 days from dispatch. Above that, sea freight is worth pricing if you have the time, but transit is measured in weeks and quoted per lane. If you ship by sea, move every date in the calendar earlier by the transit time plus clearance.

For a seasonal launch, splitting often works best: a small courier shipment to open the season, with the rest following by sea. When should I order for Eid al-Adha and Hajj 2027?

Eid al-Adha is expected around mid-May 2027. For a repeat style, order in the weeks straight after Eid al-Fitr, when the supply chain has just cleared and lead times are at their best. Hajj travel sets need longer: about four months before Dhul-Hijjah, which puts that order in January, during the Ramadan rush.
